C’est à travers un communiqué que le ministre en charge du Cadre de vie et du Développement Durable José TONATO, rassure les populations suite au déferlement des vagues marines ayant provoqué plusieurs pertes et informe des sérieuses mesures de sécurité à observer pour éviter toutes déconvenues…

COMMUNIQUE
Depuis le vendredi 2 août 2019, notre façade maritime subit un déferlement exceptionnel des vagues marines dû à des tempêtes saisonnières à forte amplitude provenant de l’Atlantique Sud et ayant entraîné une érosion significative à certains points particuliers notamment à hauteur de la digue immergée en construction à Avlékété dans la commune de Ouidah. Cette situation s’est accompagnée de la perte de quelques cocotiers et de certaines installations situées dans le domaine public maritime. Le Ministre du cadre de Vie et du développement Durable tient à rassurer les paisibles populations qu’il s’agit d’une situation bien connue au terme des études techniques du projet de protection côtière et de valorisation du segment d’Avlékété.
En effet, lors de la conception du projet, il avait été prévu une érosion conceptuelle dont l’impact sera atténué par le dragage et le rechargement de plage qui interviendra dès l’achèvement de la construction de la digue. L’équipe technique du projet, l’entreprise en charge des travaux et la mission de contrôle ont mis en place un dispositif de surveillance caractérisé par des relevés bathymétriques destinés à affiner le plan de
rechargement des plages une fois l’ouvrage achevé.
L’érosion de ces derniers jours a été accentuée par la montée des houles en cette période critique de fortes marées. Cette situation de niveau 2 sur une échelle de 3 (niveau d’alerte orange) pourrait perdurer. À cet effet, les dispositions sont prises pour une gestion optimale du phénomène.
Il invite cependant les populations à observer toutes les mesures de sécurité indiquées par les services compétents, notamment :
• éviter l’occupation du haut de plage du site d’Avlékété et environs ;
• respecter strictement les signalisations d’interdiction d’installation et de
circulation sur le site ;
• se référer au système d’alerte précoce mis en place par l’Agence Nationale de Protection Civile pour remonter les informations relatives aux éventuels sinistres. L’Entreprise en charge des travaux et la mission de Contrôle sont instruites pour baliser le périmètre, déployer des engins afin de faire des rechargements d’appoint des zones affectées et suivre l’évolution de la situation, tout en intégrant le phénomène aux modèles de prédiction en vue de corriger la situation qui prévaut sur le site d’Avlékété.
