PRISON DE COTONOU : LES DÉTENUS SE PLAIGNENT DE LA HAUSSE DES PRODUITS DE PREMIÈRE NÉCESSITÉ AU SEIN DE LA MAISON CARCÉRALE
Au nombre des difficultés de la vie carcérale à Cotonou, le coût de plus en plus exorbitant des denrées alimentaires pour les détenus. Une situation bien complexe au regard du contexte social déjà compliqué autant pour leurs proches sensés leur venir en aide que pour eux mêmes
Difficilement, un prisonnier arrive et réussit à survivre dans nos maisons d’arrêt. La grande majorité est contrainte de se plier en quatre afin de se vêtir et de se nourrir. Ce qui justifie d’ailleurs l’appui de l’Etat à travers les rations alimentaires journalières (deux fois par jour) lesquelles rations subissent un autre traitement au sein de la prison. Mais ceci n’étant pas le propos de l’article, à 500 FCFA et par endroit à 600 FCFA dans nos marchés et stands, la boîte de café se vend à 900 FCFA à la Prison civile de Cotonou.
La boîte de sardine se commercialise à 600 FCFA dans l’enceinte tandis qu’elle est à 350 FCFA ou 400 FCFA en ville. 800 FCFA ; c’est le prix de vente d’un kilogramme de haricot entre les quatre murs de la prison civile. Une baguette de pain est à 150 FCFA un sachet de saucisses à 750 FCFA a pendant qu’il est à 600 FCFA hors de la prison. Et tout ceci à quelle fin ? Pour axphixier financièrement les prisonniers ainsi que leurs parents, n’est ce pas s’interroge agacé un détenu ?
À qui profite cette chereté ?
Les responsables de la maison sont-ils informés dans cette situation ? Jusqu’à quand cela va-t-il durer ?
Ce sont autant de questions auxquelles il est impératif de trouver des réponses solutionneuses. Les exemples de prix sont divers et nous n’en finirons pas avec la liste dans cette chronique s’indigne ce jeune détenu ayant rejoint la maison carcérale depuis plusieurs mois.
Le comble s’observe lorsqu’il est question de s’acheter à manger dans cette maison font observer nos intervenants. Les denrées étant très chères, acheter à manger est aussi une autre paire de manches.. Ainsi, les prisonniers s’asphyxient financièrement avec le peu en leur possession. C’est un véritable calvaire financier que vivent chaque jour les détenus de la maison pénitentiaire de Cotonou. Tout est chère ou mieux est excessivement chère.
Nos poches ont assez coulé de larmes se plaint un détenu qui explique que cela a un impact non négligeable sur les finances des parents et proches.
