Le dialogue politique aura été un grand succès. C’est du moins l’avis du professeur Octavianus Akpabli. L’universitaire adresse ses vives félicitations au chef de l’Etat le président Patrice Talon pour l’ingénieuse idée de ce dialogue dont l’importance s’est révélée au terme des travaux.«J’ai vu un Patrice Talon serré la main à des gens que l’opinion publique considère comme ses ennemis jurés, dans un climat assez fraternel, c’est extraordinaire, il faut être un grand homme pour le faire» dira professeur Akpabli. En effet soutient-il, la tenue des assises et surtout le consensus retrouvé au terme de trois jours d’échanges n’était pas gagné d’avance dans un contexte particulièrement tendu du fait de l’application du code électoral et de la charte des partis politiques.
C’est pourquoi le professeur d’économie se réjouit de l’ambiance qui a prévalu et reconnait les mérites du modérateur ainsi que les rapporteurs et l’ensemble des délégués pour leur sens d’ouverture qui prouve qu’au delà de la politique politicienne, opposants et mouvanciers peuvent véritablement se donner là main pour l’émergence du Bénin. «Je veux croire à la bonne fois des acteurs politiques actuellement au Bénin» a-t-il déclaré à un média international, conscient qu’une chose est de formuler les recommandations et l’autre et la plus importante est leur mise en œuvre.
Le professeur Akpabli ne doute pas toutefois de l’engagement pris par le président de la République Patrice Talon dans son discours de clôture du dialogue et l’invite à aller plus vite afin de décrisper l’atmosphère politique ; cela fait, les fils et filles du Bénin pourront se retrouver pour tourner maintenant les regards vers les réels questions de développement que les questions politiques ont failli plomber.«Le moment viendra où ce peuple se rappellera qu’ils ont été des acteurs des troubles que nous avons connus aujourd’hui, donc ils ont la responsabilité de s’entendre et de tourner la page pour que le béninois lambda puisse vivre paisiblement dans son pays» alerte-t-il.
