Mes chers amis,
Pour la deuxième fois , je me fais le devoir de m’adresser à vous depuis ma cellule de détention. Je pense en effet que le fait d’être ici ne nous exclus pas autant des défis de notre République. Car oui nos votes peuvent être différents mais nos espoirs restent les mêmes. Ceux de permettre à nos enfants de pouvoir en grandissant retrouver leur chemin dans un monde en perpétuels bouleversements. Et pour le faire , ma conviction est qu’il faut tout faire afin qu’ils grandissent dans un pays qui soit rassemblé. Oui mes chers amis, je voudrais vous parler de l’ identité de notre pays. L’ identité n’est pas un débat pour les seuls historiens , c’est une question béninoise. Une question qui touche actuellement notre pays au cœur. L’ insécurité culturelle à nous imposée par la mondialisation nous déboussole et paralyse par la même occasion l’idée de progrès et d’amélioration de la condition humaine.
Oui mes chers amis, la mondialisation n’est pas une idéologie, c’est une réalité et elle a évidemment des conséquences. Elle nous oblige à nous transformer pour rester dans la compétition. Nous savons tous que le 21ème siècle est celui du basculement de la planète vers le leadership chinois. Savez-vous que les enfants chinois apprennent par cœur la liste des dynasties qui ont régné sur leur pays pendant trois mille ans et ils ressentent la fierté d’appartenir à une grande civilisation. Nous devons redécouvrir absolument notre héritage historique , parce que l’histoire et la géographie c’est d’abord permettre à l’être humain de se mouvoir dans le temps et l’espace. Enlevez lui ces deux dimensions. Que lui reste t’il ?
Plutôt que le déni de soi , nous devons aller vers la connaissance de soi. Plutôt que la négation des racines il nous faut aller vers la mémoire retrouvée. Il faut bien avoir conscience que l’identité de notre pays et un levier considérable , nous avons entre nos mains un trésor.
Revisitez les paroles de notre hymne national , vous découvrirez au cœur de cette prose batailleuse l’idée de liberté et d’unité. Et c’est bien ce qui nous caractérise depuis la nuit des temps. Parce que la liberté c’est Behanzin, Bio Guera , Kaba , l’unité c’est le roi Ghézo , c’est Mathieu KEREKOU etc…Voilà pourquoi le patriotisme ne doit pas être un gros mot. Voilà pourquoi il faut valoriser ce qui nous rassemble en tant que citoyens plutôt que ce qui nous distingue en tant qu’indivudus. Il faut que la culture assume sa vocation élévatrice.
Être béninois devient alors une chance mais aussi une charge. Dans une nation, chaque citoyen tient entre ses mains une part du succès de son pays. C’est alors urgent de parler de patrimoine, d’histoire , de culture donc de transmission. La transmission c’est le passage du flambeau de main en main pour préserver notre humanité de l’obscurantisme. Voilà pourquoi la culture commence quand les superstitions , les mythes, les coutumes sortent de la nuit pour devenir littérature, religion, peinture, arts, spectacles. Cette alchimie accompagne les aléas de l’histoire. Les cultures vivent , elles prospèrent où elles meurent , c’est une longue marche vers l’inconnu. Elles peuvent disparaitre sous les sables, couler au fond des mers , périrent sous des flammes. Mais elles meurent définitivement de l’indifférence de ses enfants. Face à la mondialisation , il faut tout faire pour rester unique car c’est en étant unique que l’on devient universel parce qu’on est irremplaçable.
Mes chers amis, les grands succès sont toujours nourris par une éducation , par des valeurs. Le progrès a toujours pour origine un patrimoine , une somme de connaissances, un savoir sur lequel les siècles à venir viennent prendre racine. Contre l’ensauvagement du monde , notre culture est à la fois une muraille , un phare et une citadelle. Il n’y a rien de plus noble qu’un peuple qui se dresse pour tenir son destin.
