Corée du nord: la capitale Pyongyang confinée en raison d’une « maladie respiratoire »
D’après le média NK News, les habitants de la capitale nord-coréenne ont été confinés et doivent se soumettre à des prises de température. Le Covid-19, que le pays a affirmé avoir «vaincu» en août 2022, n’est pas mentionné.
La Corée du Nord a ordonné un confinement de cinq jours dans sa capitale Pyongyang en raison d’une hausse du nombre de personnes touchées par une «maladie respiratoire», a rapporté le site NK News, établi à Séoul, citant un document officiel des autorités nord-coréennes. Cette mesure semble être la première prise à l’échelle de la ville depuis que le pays a déclaré sa «victoire éclatante» sur le Covid-19 en août 2022.
Les habitants de Pyongyang ont reçu l’ordre de rester à leur domicile du 25 au 29 janvier et doivent se soumettre à de multiples prises de température chaque jour, selon NK News. Le texte des autorités ne mentionne pas le Covid-19 mais affirme que le rhume figure parmi les maladies nouvelles qui se propagent actuellement dans la capitale. On ignore si d’autres territoires sont concernés par des confinements similaires et les médias publics n’ont pas annoncé de nouvelles mesures.
Une dépêche de l’agence publique nord-coréenne KCNA, en date du 24 janvier, évoque cependant une «mobilisation intense» dans la ville de Kaesong, située à proximité de la frontière avec la Corée du Sud, afin que «tous les travailleurs respectent volontairement les réglementations anti-épidémiques dans leur travail et leur vie» et empêcher l’émergence de maladies respiratoires.
Une vague de froid sibérien touche la péninsule
La péninsule coréenne est actuellement en proie à ce que les météorologues décrivent comme une vague de froid sibérien, les températures à Pyongyang chutant jusqu’à -22°C. La Chine, partenaire commercial clé et voisine de la Corée du Nord, est confrontée à une importante vague d’infections après qu’elle a mis fin à sa rigoureuse politique dite de «zéro Covid». Si elle s’astreint à une fermeture stricte de ses frontières depuis le début de la pandémie, la Corée du Nord autorise certains échanges avec la Chine.
Pyongyang avait annoncé son tout premier cas de Covid en mai 2022, avant de proclamer sa victoire sur la maladie trois mois plus tard. L’Organisation mondiale de la Santé met en doute depuis longtemps les statistiques de Pyongyang sur le Covid et les affirmations du pays selon lesquelles l’épidémie est sous contrôle. Il reste difficile de savoir si Pyongyang a lancé une campagne de vaccination de ses quelque 25 millions d’habitants, même si le pays aurait reçu des vaccins en provenance de Pékin.
