Le Gouvernement de la République du Bénin ne saurait organiser une Campagne de Vaccination pour nuire à ses concitoyens. C’est ce qui ressort de la conférence de presse organisée ce lundi 25 Mars par le ministre de la santé Bénjamin HOUNKPATIN.
En effet, une rumeur relayée dans les médias et via les réseaux sociaux, fait état de plusieurs cas de décès d’enfants survenus au cours et suite à la campagne nationale de vaccination contre la rougeole et la rubéole couplée à la supplémentation en vitamine A aux enfants de 9 mois à 14 ans qui s’est tenue du 5 au 11 mars 2019 sur toute l’étendue du territoire national.
Sur les 5.220.834 enfants vaccinés, il y a eu 81 cas de Manifestations Adverses Post Immunisation (MAPI) graves ce qui représente un taux de 1,5 cas pour 100.000 enfants vaccinés. 09 décès dont 5 au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de la Zone sanitaire Abomey-Calavi/So-Ava, 1 au CHD Zou, 1 à l’Hôpital de Zone de Pobè et 2 au CHD Ouémé ont été dénombrés.
Il faut souligner d’après une publication faite par l’Agence Bénin Presse, « Trente cinq (35) enfants malades dont trois (03) décès ont été enregistrés au cours de la dernière campagne de vaccination contre la rougeole et la rubéole dans le département du Plateau .
Face à tous ces chiffres, le ministre de la santé se veut rassurant. A l’en croire, les mesures adéquates ont été mises en place pour éviter ces malheureuses déconvenues et il n’existe encore aucun lien directe entre la vaccination et les cas de décès dénombrés.
Il invite tout un chacun à faire preuve de tempérance et exhorte la population à attendre le rapport du comité national des experts chargés de faire la lumière sur la cause des cas de décès dénombrés.
